From “push” to “pull” marketing – why committing to a blog makes sense

Matthew Ferrara of The Learning Network spends a few minutes making a case for why committing to and maintaining a blog makes sense in today’s marketing mix.

In the past decade, we have seen a move from “push” marketing to “pull” marketing (think direct mail, direct email turning into social networking outlets).

Blogs fit into the pull marketing because they can be shared in social circles, they can be shared on social networks, and they are live for much longer than say, an email newsletter.  Blogs compensate for changes in email usage patterns (make sure you see the graphs he has on that – very interesting!)

Blogs also have search engine optimization appeal, it can be re-blogged by others and you can actually have a dialogue through the use of comments on blogs.
